AC Milan icon Cesare Maldini insists coach Pippo Inzaghi deserves to stay. Inzaghi is expected to be shown the door at Milan in the summer.

"I hope that Milan confirm Inzaghi for next season," Maldini told Calciomercato.it.

"He is my friend, but unfortunately if a Coach doesn't win, then he leaves. You can't escape that, especially at his age.

"Inzaghi knows Milan, the President, the players and everything around the club. I don't see what more he could do there.

"People think Milan have to win, but this is not a great squad. It's a good squad, but nothing more, so it can win or lose. This side isn't going to dominate anyone."
