Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez is close to earning a contract extension at the club.

The 30-year-old started slowly when he first moved from Leicester City, but has quickly become invaluable for Pep Guardiola.

Mahrez was a key reason why the Citizens secured the Premier League title and won the Carabao Cup last term.

Per the Manchester Evening News, City know Mahrez wants to stay and are preparing to hold talks about a new contract.

His current deal runs out in 2023, but a new package would see him staying at the club into his mid-30s.
