Germany boss Löw critical of Mourinho over Man Utd midfielder Schweinsteiger

Germany head coach Joachim Löw thinks that former international Bastian Schweinsteiger could benefit from his move to MLS.

The Manchester United midfielder yesterday announced that he has agreed to join MLS side Chicago Fire after failing to make his way into Jose Mourinho's plans.

Löw also seemed to take a swipe at the United manager for his treatment of Schweinsteiger.

He said: "We had contact a few weeks ago, and I knew Schweinsteiger tried everything in training but he could not make it to the first team.

"I'm sure, since I have seen some of Manchester United, that he could have helped in central midfield.

"He was very close to the squad but Mourinho decided otherwise so it is a good opportunity to end his career to go abroad to get a new experience."
