Louis van Gaal will make Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain his number one transfer target if he remains Manchester United manager beyond the end of the current campaign, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.

The future of van Gaal at United has been subject to a lot of speculation over the last few months but it looks like the Dutchman could still stay put at Old Trafford beyond the end of the current campaign after guiding the Red Devils to the FA Cup final.

If indeed van Gaal continues at United, he will surely look to strengthen his ranks at the club and now according to reports, the 64-year-old will make Napoli striker Higuain his number one target for the upcoming summer.

Premier League rivals Arsenal have also been heavily linked with Argentine ace Higuain, who has 30 Serie A goals this season, but van Gaal is eager to steal a march on his rivals by making a serious move for the player as soon as his status at the Theatre of Dreams is confirmed.
