Premier League side Luton Town were unable to sign a summer transfer target.

The minnows had a bid turned down for Ecuadorian U20 international midfielder Oscar Zambrano.

The 19-year-old, who is impressing with LDU Quito, has already been a star performer despite his young age.

Liga de Quito's director Esteban Paz revealed to Radio Cobertura: “The transfers didn't close completely.

“They were important figures [bids from Ajax and Luton], but the bonuses were not convenient.

"In any case, the teams remain interested and in contact for when a new market opens."
