David Luiz would welcome Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney to Chelsea. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Rooney made a transfer request a fortnight ago.

According to The Sun, Luiz said: "Everyone knows about his quality. So if he wants to come to Chelsea, why not?"

He finished off by saying: "I'd be happy with it."
