Luis Enrique 'happy' as Barcelona win at Athletic Bilbao in Copa

Barcelona earned a 2-1 first-leg win at Copa del Rey opponents Athletic Bilbao last night.

Munir El Haddadi put Barca ahead after 18 minutes and Neymar doubled the advantage shortly afterwards when goalkeeper Iago Herrerin made a mess of a clearance.

Athletic pushed for a goal in the second half and were rewarded late on as Aritz Aduriz finished after a misplaced pass from Dani Alves.

The return leg takes place at the Camp Nou next Wednesday, when Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo will also meet in the Spanish capital after drawing their first leg 0-0.

Barca coach Luis Enrique said: “This team has unique ambition and they are prepared to compete in every way and if they have to defend then they do it. Today they [Athletic] created very few chances against us.

“I leave happy with the result" but warned that Aduriz's late strike for Athletic means “the tie is more open and now next Wednesday [the second leg] will be very passionate.

“Athletic deserve credit, in the second half it was difficult for us and we have had to play practically in our own half," continued Luis Enrique.

“After the break they put us under a lot of pressure, we lacked fluency and that was one of the main reasons."
