Lucas Neill thrilled to be staying in UAE after signing Al Wasl deal

Australian national team captain Lucas Neill has finalised his one-year deal with UAE club Al Wasl.

The 34-year old defender spent last season with Al Jazira before he was released at the culmination of the campaign and now he has decided to remain in the UAE Pro-League, moving from Abu Dhabi to Dubai.

Neill, who has played for Millwall, West Ham United, Blackburn Rovers, Everton and Galatasaray during his career, is eagerly anticipating started with his new club and working alongside head coach Bruno Metsu of Senegal, UAE and Qatari national team fame.

"I'm delighted to be joining Al Wasl," read a statement released by Neill's management company.

"My family and I really enjoyed our time in the UAE last season, and having already experienced the Pro-League I'm looking forward to another challenging season here.

"I'm also looking forward to working with Bruno Metsu, who is one of the most experienced and respected coaches in this region, and I'm hopeful of being able to help the club achieve its ambitions."
