Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren slammed fans for reacting badly to the club's 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa.

The Premier League champions were humbled by Villa in a thrilling contest at Villa Park.

But Lovren believes now is the time for fans to back the team, not turn against the players.

"Never blame one or two players for a defeat," Lovren tweeted after the match.

"There is 11 players on the pitch who work as a TEAM, sometimes there are good and bad days, tomorrow is a new day.

"Move on!"
