Peter Lovenkrands hopes to stay with Newcastle United.

The Danish striker comes off contract in June.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "My contract is up at the end of the season and I need to wait to see what happens.

"I don't know, I will have to wait and see.

"If we are in the Champions League, though, we will need a bigger squad than normal. There could be a chance of me staying.

"I would love to, of course, but we will have to see when the summer holidays come."
