Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Chris Birchall is one step closer to moving to Los Angeles Galaxy according to The Trinidad Express. The English-born former Coventry City player confirmed to the publication that a deal with the Los Angeles team could come through in July.

"It's definitely a great opportunity for me and one of the considerations I've given to the move is that it could have a better effect on my international career because it means I'm a bit closer to T&T and that can help for when they need me for international games," Birchall told Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) media officer Shaun Fuentes.

"Everyone knows how much I'm committed to playing for Trinidad and Tobago. I've had a tremendous experience wearing the national shirt and if moving to the USA could then see my chances get even better and it having a positive effect on my international career then it's definitely going to be a better option."
