Lorient president Loic Fery is delighted with the early impact of Benjamin Mendy.
The former Manchester City fullback has quickly settled after over two years of not playing having been cleared of charges of sexual assault in England.
Fery told L'Equipe: “The sports management initiate all the players recruited. I never chose players. On the other hand, I am in solidarity with all the choices and I approved them.
“I have already spoken on the subject, the coach too, the Minister of Sports, too. Benjamin Mendy is a player in the squad, like any other, and he only aspires to that. He came to Lorient to return to life as a professional player.
"Above all, we did not recruit Benjamin for the spotlight that it could give to the club, but for everything he could bring on and off the pitch, in particular to help young people in their development."
