Shane Long hopes he can kick on after getting on the scoresheet in his West Bromwich Albion debut yesterday.
The former Reading striker netted in the 37th minute of the 2-1 loss to Manchester United at The Hawthorns, wearing his favourite number 9 shirt, and he is looking to give more to the Baggies after a strong first performance for his new club.
"I got the No.9 at the start of last season and it worked out well for me," Long told the club's official website.
"I asked if I could have it again this year and it was nice of them to give it to me.
"I know there are some big boots to fill but hopefully I can do it justice.
"It's nice to wear the No.9 shirt and to score a goal on your debut is a good start so hopefully I can kick on from here. There is definitely a lot more to come.
"Hopefully this is the start of a good season for me."
