Scunthorpe's on-loan keeper Sam Johnstone intends to use his time in League One as a reminder to parent club Manchester United of his potential. The England Under-19 international, whose deal with the Iron runs out in November, revealed United coaches have been monitoring his progress at Glanford Park.
He told the club's official website: "United's goalkeeping coach Eric Steele and reserve manager Warren Joyce have been to watch and have said they are impressed with what they have seen.
"Hopefully I can carry that on. I feel settling in well has helped a lot with my performances. I've made some good saves in matches but it is a team game."
Johnstone's stay with Scunthorpe was extended by a further month last week and the 18-year-old is excited at gaining further first-team experience.
"It's the best thing for me, I'd prefer to stay here and get games and experience playing for a good side," he added.
