Tahith Chong and Nathan Bishop have begun their preseason with Manchester United.

The Manchester Evening News says United requested to keep Chong and Bishop for the beginning of pre-season despite loaning them out to other clubs earlier in the summer window.

Chong, 21, has agreed to join Birmingham City on loan for the duration of next season while Bishop, also 21, will play for Mansfield in League Two next term.

As part of the agreements United requested to keep the duo at the club for the first few weeks of the summer before then allowing them to join up with their new squads ahead of the new season.

United particularly believe it would be beneficial for Dutch winger Chong to stay at the club for a prolonged period this summer after a difficult year away on loan with Werder Bremen and then Club Brugge.
