Liverpool's Uruguay defender Coates still getting to grips with Scouse accent

Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates admits he's still getting to grips with the Scouse accent on Merseyside.

Coates is taking regular English lessons and is happy with his progress.

He told liverpoolfc.tv: "Liverpool is actually quite similar to where I'm from, Montevideo in Uruguay - the only difference really is the climate!

"In my spare time, I like to go to Liverpool One, or meet up in either Maxi or Luis's houses. We have some old customs, and we all like to share a drink which is called 'mate'. You may have seen Luis with this - it's a traditional Uruguayan tea.

"My English is coming along good. I've got an English teacher, so hopefully it will continue to get better, but it can be difficult to understand the Scouse accent! I've been in London and listened to their accent. It's a little bit different here in Liverpool, but I'm getting there."
