Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani could still stay with AC Milan.
His contract with Liverpool has another two years left to run with wages of 4m per season and has reportedly given the all-clear to halve that sum.
Milan are not prepared to stump up the 8m needed to buy Aquilani, so he could return to Anfield anyway.
