Liverpool to make double defensive signing: Konate and Kabak on their way

Liverpool are ready to make a double defensive signing this summer.

The Sunday World says Liverpool's owners are set to hand manager Jurgen Klopp a timely lift, as they close in on a deals to sign RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate AND on-loan defender Ozan Kabak.

Regarding Konate, talks are now at an advanced stage over a five-year deal for the French centre-back in a deal that will cost £34million.

Yet Konate's arrival will not block Liverpool's efforts to make Kabak's loan deal from Schalke permanent, with sources in Germany confirming they expect the Turkish defender to join Liverpool in an £18million deal.

The double swoop will be a huge boost to boss Klopp after he admitted his side are blowing their chances of securing a place in next season's Champions League after a 1-1 draw against Newcastle at Anfield on Saturday.
