Liverpool to be careful with goal hero Sturridge

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is planning to treat injury-prone striker Daniel Sturridge with caution in the future.

The 26-year-old started his first game under Klopp and scored a brace in the 6-1 Capital One Cup quarter-final win over Southampton on Wednesday night.

"This isn't the first time we've talked about this [Sturridge's fitness]. We try to do what we can to keep him fit," Klopp told Sky Sports after the game.

"Sometimes it can be bad luck, even for a long period, but he felt good during the game and at the end of it.

"He doesn't have to play in all the games, but if we can decide when is the right moment to fight, and when is the right moment for recovery, everything should be OK."
