Liverpool tell Man Utd it's their title to lose

Liverpool insist Manchester United remain in the driver's seat after yesterday's 5-0 thrashing of Aston Villa.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez said: "We can keep this momentum - and the players know we can beat anyone. Now we are much closer and need to do our job and wait for United to make mistakes. They're still in a better position but we must keep pushing them.

"In their next game, they will play Aston Villa and Villa have won 10 away games, so that will be difficult."

Benitez's team made it look anything but difficult as they took full advantage of United's slip-up at Fulham. Skipper Steven Gerrard said: "It's good to win convincingly and everyone knows we're on a rich vein of form. Confidence is high.

"United are capable of winning all their remaining games but we've got to keep on their shoulders so they're going into games knowing we're ready to pounce on any mistakes they make."
