Newcastle United will reach the summer market deadline without having to sell Steven Taylor.
The Sunday Sun says Taylor's shoulder injury is set to sideline him for the first six weeks of the Premier League season.
The news is cruel on a player who missed the second half of last season with knee ligament damage.
However, on the flip side, it may end the interest of clubs including Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City in tempting Taylor away from Tyneside during the final year of his contract, clearing the way for the 24-year-old to sign a new deal at St James' Park.
