Liverpool starlet Gomez disappointed but will not dwell on Man Utd mistake

Liverpool youngster Joe Gomez has insisted that he has already moved on from his difficult experience against Manchester United.

Gomez has certainly impressed many with his performances so far this season but as it is the case for young players in their fledgling careers, the defender endured a terrible time during the 3-1 defeat at the hands of United last month.

The former Charlton Athletic youngster gave away an unnecessary penalty during the clash, bringing down Ander Herrera in the area, which contributed to Liverpool's defeat but rather than dwelling on the error, the 18-year old has stated that he is already moving on.

The defender told the Liverpool Echo: "I was disappointed because it was such a massive fixture. I watched it back and analysed where I had gone wrong. It was just a case of learning from it and moving on.

"Dwelling on a mistake like that can't be beneficial.

"You have to look forward. I've had the mentality where you just have to stay positive and believe in yourself. My family and friends keep me grounded and make sure I stay positive when things aren't going my way."
