Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits he grew up idolising John Barnes.

Barnes won league titles with Liverpool under Gerrard's current gaffer Kenny Dalglish.

He told the Daily Mail: "When I started watching Liverpool, he was the most exciting player and I used to love his skill and how calm he was.

"When I met him as a kid, it was one of the best days of my life."
