Liverpool send Brewster to see London specialist

Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster has undergone tests in London.

The 17-year-old phenom has injured his ankle and is expected to spend a significant period of time on the sidelines.

The original diagnosis was ligament damage to the ankle, but the Reds have taken their young star to the capital for further examination from a specialist.

U18 boss and club legend Steven Gerrard is confident the injury will strengthen Brewster.

"I don't know the full extent but I've heard it is going to be a good while," Gerrard said.

"I don't know the complete timescale as he has further tests. He was in a good place, doing well for the under-23s and the under-19s, scoring goals and flying internationally on the back of a tournament win.

"This happens to every footballer. You have setbacks, sometimes you grow and you learn from them as much as the good things that happen to you.

"He will be missing the game and realise what a good position he was in before the injury and desperate to get back.

"Hopefully he comes back hungry and gets back into top form as soon as possible."
