Liverpool's £66m goalkeeper Alisson Becker almost quit the game as a 15 year-old.

His former goalkeeping coach Daniel Pavan worked with Alisson at Internacional.

“His biological maturing was slower," the coach told the Globe and Mail. “When he was 15 his parents came to say he was going to drop out. I insisted Alisson would grow soon, Muriel promised to help and there he is now."

“In the academy teams he often didn't make it to the bench, he was constantly overlooked even though we knew he had talent. He was a little chubby teenager."

A year later, Alisson had grown six inches and was a 6"4 18-year-old.
