Swansea City have failed with a bid for Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen.

The Mirror says Liverpool have rejected an £8million bid from Swansea to take Allen back to the Liberty Stadium.

The Reds are prepared to sell Allen, who has one year left on his deal, and are understood to want around £10million for the Wales midfielder.

Allen, 26, is open to a move and he wants to play more regular first-team football after struggling to hold down a starting place under Jurgen Klopp.

He hopes to resolve his future after Euro 2016 and Liverpool are determined to recoup most of the £15million they paid Swansea for him four years ago.
