Liverpool are pushing to close a deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Diego Capel.

The Mirror says Liverpool want to complete a cut-price £4million deal for Sporting Lisbon's Spanish midfielder Capel.

Crisis club Sporting are having to auction off their biggest stars and top earners this summer and 25-year-old Spanish international is up for grabs.

Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho said: "The club needs changes in every aspect and we will work to a different style. The sales are necessary and obligatory."
