Liverpool are chasing Manchester city midfielder Yaya Toure.
Sky Sports says Liverpool are now front-runners if he does move on.
The 32-year-old joined City from Barcelona in 2010 and has won two league titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup.
In April 2013 he agreed a four-year contract with Manchester City on around £200,000-a-week.
