Liverpool are preparing a new contract offer for Joe Gomez.

The Liverpool Echo says Liverpool will look to tie Gomez down to a new contract this summer despite ongoing speculation about his Reds future.

The 24-year-old, who is out of contract in 2024, has found his game-time limited at Anfield this season following his return from a serious knee injury in pre-season, making just seven Premier League appearances and 10 starts in all competitions having fallen behind Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate in the pecking order to be Virgil van Dijk's defensive partner.

Despite his lack of game-time this season, Gomez remains part of Liverpool's plans with Anfield sources revealing the club have tasked Julian Ward with looking to tie down the defender to a new deal this summer.

However, they appreciate such a prospect could be easier said than done depending on how the defender views his own situation.
