Liverpool have opened talks with the camp of Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto.
El Mundo Deportivo says Liverpool have made enquiries with the midfielder's agent ahead of the January market.
Roberto is rated highly by Barca coach Tata Martino, but cannot find a way into the Argentine's first team.
Any interested parties will need to have extravagant financial backing due to a hefty 20million release clause in the 21-year-old's contract.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will be looking to bring in more attacking-minded players, with Victor Moses' loan expiring at the end of the season and Iago Aspas expected to leave in January after failing to find his feet in the Premier League.
