Liverpool open new contract talks with Klopp

Liverpool have launched talks over a new deal with Jurgen Klopp.

The Sun says the Kop boss only replaced Brendan Rodgers last October and is already contracted until 2018.

Yet principal owner John W Henry has seen enough to convince him Klopp is the man they want to build a new dynasty.

And now Henry and Fenway Sports Group have made approaches to the German over committing his long-term future to Merseyside.

Talks are still at such a formative stage that the Kop's American bosses haven't even discussed the exact length of any new deal.

Yet it will be for far longer than the extra 12 months option in last year's initial contract.

Negotiations will also focus on how long the fresh agreement runs, rather than a massive pay hike.

Klopp currently picks up around £7million a year, and is already in the top pay bracket of Premier League bosses.
