Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina says Tottenham veteran Brad Friedel is an inspiration.

Friedel, 40, will make his 290th consecutive Premier League appearance at Anfield tonight.

Friedel last missed a game when former club Blackburn faced Birmingham City at Ewood Park back in May 2004 and since then has been an ever-present for Aston Villa and now Spurs.

Reina, 29, will make his 176th consecutive league appearance for Liverpool.

He told the Mirror: "I would love to beat Brad's record one day but I know it's going to be very difficult."
