Liverpool new boy Wataru Endo has laughed off comments from his head coach this week.
The midfielder was asked about specific comments from Jurgen Klopp after their 2-1 win over Newcastle United.
"Endo has no clue on what we actually do," Klopp said post-game, suggesting his new signing needed time to get used to the team's tactics, after having been withdrawn at the hour mark in the game.
"The mistranslation? I got that call from a friend! (laughs)" Endo told Japanese publication Syncronous.
"Certainly, it is difficult to convey nuances in Japanese. I didn't care at all.
“Because I'm actually meeting the coach (Klopp). We didn't talk a lot, but we're together after the game, and we know that we can't criticise you all of a sudden.
"And to some extent, I understand English. There will be nuances before and after... If you look only at the cut part [from the media], it may look like criticism. I feel that I came to a big club because of that kind of response. I've never been so much attention.
"But I basically don't care about that in the media. I guess the media is also part of the business. Well, but supporters, please don't let the media dance too much. I'm sorry to say this to the media (laughs)."
