Liverpool new boy Gomez eager not to let reputations get in the way of his development

Liverpool's Joe Gomez is not scared of reputations in the Premier League.

The 18-year-old, who only had 16 starts to his name in the Championship prior to his move to Anfield, has already made a flying start to his Reds career.

Gomez made his Premier League debut against Stoke City on the opening day of the season and did considerably well to contain the experienced Jon Walters which has given him confidence for the future.

"He (Walters) was a good test for me to come up against in my first game," told Gomez. "He had the experience. He was able to do little things like use his physical side to draw fouls, but at the same time he had the Premier League quality with the ball as well.

"Generally before a game I am wary of who am I up against, but once the game starts I just get on with it. I am not going to be scared or worried. If an opponent gets the better of me then the next time I will try and get the better of them."
