Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing is looking forward to getting stuck into preseason on their tour of the USA.

And the 23-year-old is hoping for a repeat of last year's tour to the Far East, where the Reds were afforded an especially warm welcome from the locals.

"Last year we went away to the Far East and when we got there, we had fans waiting at five o'clock in the morning for us to arrive," Spearing told liverpoolfc.com. "I don't think any of the players could believe the amount of people stood there at that time.

"Now we want to go across to America, expand our fanbase and make them proud and play some good football."
