Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has spoken of his recent injury suffered for Guinea at the African Cup of Nations.

He has admitted fears his tournament is over.

It is now likely he will continue his treatment at Liverpool.

“I announce that I could not return to Egypt to continue," Keita's statement on Instagram says.

“On this I ask you to forgive me for the love of God.

“I go into my professional future and hope to better serve my nation very soon."

Keita's words come just days after his family home needed police protection from angry locals following his departure from the AFCON squad.
