Liverpool have entered talks with RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Liverpool Echo says a meeting has already been held between Liverpool officials and Szoboszlai's Hungarian-based representatives EM Sports Management.
New Reds sports director Jorg Schmadtke knows all about the Hungary captain, having watched him up close while in charge of VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.
Liverpool have been following Szoboszlai for several years since he his time with RB Salzburg.
The midfielder's Leipzig deal carries a £60m buyout clause and Salzburg will be due a hefty 20 per cent of any fee Szoboszlai is sold for.
He recently said of Reds manager Jurgen Klopp: "It would certainly be a special experience to work under Klopp. As it would be under Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho.
“I don't know what they would be able to get out of me. Relatively few footballers are given all this (opportunity), however. Only the best. I believe I can reach that level, and it would be great to work with any of them one day."
