Liverpool are believed to have made an approach for Inter Milan's Mateo Kovacic.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Reds are determined to land the 21-year old Croatian midfielder as they prepare for life without captain Steven Gerrard.

Kovacic has been linked with a number of different European clubs in recent times, including Liverpool and Arsenal, and it appears as though the Merseysiders are keen on luring him to Anfield.

It is believed that Kovacic, who has five goals in 32 Serie A appearances this term, will cost the Reds around £15million.
