Liverpool are being linked with Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff.

Reds boss Roy Hodgson made a personal check on Gourcuff last week in action for France against Romania.

Armed with NESV's funds, Hodgson is keen to boost his midfield and has Gourcuff and Standard Liege's Steven Defour under consideration.

Former AC Milan midfielder Gourcuff is also interesting Manchester City.
