Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler admits Blackpool's offer left him in shock.

Fowler turned down the 90 quid-a-week deal last week.

"If Ashley Cole nearly crashed his car when he was offered £50,000 a week [by Arsenal], I nearly self-combusted," Fowler told The National. "I am better than that."

He added: "The older you get, the more the realisation you are not going to play forever," he said. "I always said when I was young that I would pack in young but football is the only thing I know and the only thing I have ever wanted to do. I wish I could play forever."
