Liverpool legend John Aldridge is keen for manager Brendan Rodgers to prioritise the Europa League.
Winners of this season's competition earn qualification for the Champions League.
Aldridge wrote in the Sunday World: "No Liverpool fan wanted to be heading into this phase of the season suggesting the Europa League is a priority, but that is the reality of the position manager Brendan Rodgers and his team finds himself in right now.
"For the first time, a place in the Champions League will be handed to the winners of the Europa League final in Warsaw on May 27th, and for all the faults this competition clearly has, the chance to get a ticket back into Europe's elite competition means it has to be taken very seriously."
