Liverpool legend Aldridge: I judged Kabak too harshly

Liverpool legend John Aldridge is being won around by Ozan Kabak.

Kabak joined Liverpool from Schalke in a loan deal, as manager Jurgen Klopp attempted to plugs the gaps in a defensive line torn apart by injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

"We looked at Kabak in his first couple of matches and people were not sure whether he was good enough, but that was probably a harsh judgement," Aldo told sundayworld.com.

"I was among those who look at his first few performances and didn't like what I saw, but players who have never played in English football always take time to get used to the pace of the game and he was thrown in at the deep end without a float.

"He was coming into a team that had lost all confidence and at the age of 20, it was not realistic for him to solve all of Liverpool's problems instantly.

"What we have seen from him in the last few games puts a slightly different perspective. He looked decent alongside Nat Phillips in the games before the international break and maybe those two can build a partnership to take Liverpool through to the end of the season.

"The big test will come when they take on Real Madrid in the Champions League and maybe the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain at the back end of the competition, but there have been some positive signs from Kabak.

"They have to make a decision on whether to sign him permanently at the end of the season and by then, a final judgement can be made."
