Liverpool keeper Ward eyes massive year with Aberdeen

Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward is excited to join Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen on a year-long loan deal.

Ward spent most of the last campaign acting as back-up to Simon Mignolet and Brad Jones at Anfield and has now leapt at the chance to play more regularly for Europa League qualifiers Aberdeen.

Ward told the Daily Record: "I've spoken with Brendan Rodgers and he told me to enjoy it, to get some games.

"We've spoken on numerous occasions over the last couple of years about going out on loan but it hasn't always worked out because of injuries and suspensions to other keepers.

"There were a couple of options in the Football League but as soon as I found out Aberdeen were interested there was only one club I wanted to join.

"It's the top flight in Scotland, Aberdeen did really well last season, Europe is an added bonus and the fans are passionate and love their football.

"It's going to be a massive year for my development.

"It's okay warming the bench at Liverpool, it has its perks, but it's not something you want to do every week.

"You want to play every week in front of big crowds on a big stage and I'm looking forward to doing well for Aberdeen."
