Caoimhin Kelleher has revealed how supportive Adrian was after he was handed his Champions League debut for Liverpool's victory over Ajax.
With Alisson Becker ruled out by a hamstring problem, Kelleher was preferred by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to the experienced Adrian for the Group D showdown with Ajax at Anfield on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old responded with an excellent display and kept a clean sheet as the Premier League champions secured progress to the knockout stages with a 1-0 win.
"I didn't see Ali yesterday (Monday) because I think he was gone, but I got a text before the game just to tell me good luck," he said.
"Adrian was a really great support. He told me, 'I'm with you 100% and supporting you no matter what'.
"To get that from him was really kind of him."
When asked when he discovered he was playing, Kelleher added: "I found out yesterday (Monday), I got told by management and stuff. Then in the team shape we did, I was the starting goalie.
"Obviously I was excited when I found out and then just tried to focus on the game from there."
