Liverpool are pushing to close the signing of Stoke City attacker Xherdan Shaqiri before they leave for their preseason tour abroad.
The Daily Mail says the Reds are confident of making Shaqiri their latest summer signing and could have a £12million deal completed before they leave on their US Tour.
Shaqiri is currently on holiday, having helped his country reach the last 16 of the World Cup. All players are afforded a three-week break after playing in international competition and that would mean he would be ready to return to training for the week beginning July 23.
Liverpool, who beat local rivals Tranmere 3-2 on Tuesday night, head to the United States on July 21 for a week-long tour.
Liverpool have made contact with Stoke and negotiations will continue. It is believed Shaqiri's release clause is in the region of £12m.
