Liverpool have been hit by a triple injury blow after their 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez revealed that Xabi Alonso has suffered a recurrence of his metatarsal injury and Fernando Torres and Javier Mascherano are both nursing knocks.

Benitez said: "Unfortunately Xabi injured his metatarsal but I don't think it's as serious as the problem he had.

"Fernando was training well on Friday but it was clear that he had problems during the game. He couldn't use his pace and we didn't see the real Torres.

"And Mascherano had a kick to his foot. I will need to check with the doctor to see how the players are in the next two days."
