Liverpool hero John Aldridge says the best thing after their FA Cup defeat at Manchester United is it keeps Erik ten Hag in his job.

Aldridge says Ten Hag is on borrowed time at United.

He told the Sunday World: "Top teams don't go to a team like Manchester United at the moment an d concede four goals, they just don't.

"They are not in a good place. We are. That was their Cup Final and it all happened for them.

"I don't want to be sour about it, but it really hurt.

"Ten Hag is just papering over the cracks for me. They are miles away. Ten Hag, for me, he is just on borrowed time.

"The only good thing for Liverpool on Sunday is it just keeps him going."
