Liverpool have lost 1-0 to Austria club Rapid Vienna in a pre-season friendly.

Rapid skipper Steffen Hoffmann scored the only goal of the contest in the second half to give his side the win in what was a strong performance by the Austrians.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez went in to the match without new signing Glen Johnson and gave limited time to key players such as Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuty and Jamie Carragher.
