Liverpool fullback Enrique hoping Rodgers given time

Liverpool fullback Jose Enrique hopes manager Brendan Rodgers is given time to bed down his methods at Anfield.

As Enrique looks to shake off a niggling knee injury that is limiting his own involvement, he is adamant that the Ulsterman can bring a Catalan style to Anfield - if he is given time.

"I hope that Brendan Rodgers gets the time he needs, because I think he is the best manager in England at the moment," said Enrique to the Mirror.

"I worked under five managers at Newcastle and now two at Liverpool - so I know what I am talking about!

"The manager wants to bring a style of play like Barca's to the club, and that won't happen in just a few months. You should always want to copy the best example. And who are the best team in the world? Barcelona, of course.

"People say you cannot play the Barca way in England, but I disagree.

"The manager did it at Swansea to a certain extent and so he can do it even better at Liverpool because we are a bigger club. The style the manager wants to play is different to what players are used to in England.

"So it will take time to adjust - I think we all understand that - because English football is so different."
