Liverpool fullback Alexander-Arnold: We need big personalities Van Dijk, Gomez back

Liverpool fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold says the club has been lifted by the return of last season's injury absences.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are all fit again and in contention to start at Norwich City. Alexander-Arnold knows, as last season proved, they will be key to any Liverpool title challenge.

He told the Daily Mail: "They are big personalities, leaders and people who we will need. They are the players who will help us win trophies, who will contribute massively to winning things if we want to.

"It's always important as a defence to have a stable back four, one that's always playing so you can build up a rhythm and understand each other.

"Looking back to the end of last season when we started to pick up our results it was because we had a stable back four and learned how to play with each other. When things are chopping and changing each week it's difficult to build up momentum.

"They are world class centre backs and with Ibrahima coming in as well he'll be a massive addition to the team. There's huge competition for places in that position again."
